THE TRIFFIDS

So many gigs to catch this month courtesy of the Festival of Perth. Two days ago it was Thievery Corp, last night it was The Triffids. The almost cult like 80's group from here in Perth, sadly without their lead singer David McComb who passed away in 1999. In his place a variety of extremely talented vocalists who made last nights show quite awesome. It was the high energy gig of a few nights before but the Triffids were never high energy as a rule. Melancholy rock is a much better description, they slide quite nicely in alongside the likes of Nick Cave etal.

Eats
As was this great old snap of the Eats burger joint in Cottesloe (now demolished)

Of course everyone comes to a Triffids gig looking forward to them playing Wide Open Road, the song they are best known for. Of course I naturally chose the very moment they played it to head out and grab some drinks for us all didn't I, so I heard it from the bar, so not happy with that decision. As my buddy Chris said "It's like going to an Ah Ha concert and missing them do Take On Me!

So to make up for it ... kind of, here's the video
